Established in Bridgwater in 1968, Turners Optometrists have a reputation for excellent service. Believed to be the only optometry practice in the UK with a ‘Gold’ Investors in People Award, the whole team work hard at their objective of being ‘best-in-class’ at everything they do.
An astonishing range of services are provided by this locally owned business.
The clinical care provided by their team of experienced optometrists is delivered using state of the art equipment from within a beautiful Victorian house, which boasts a large, free, on-site car-park.
New to the optometry team is Dr Ian Moss, a contact lens specialist with a lead role in developing clinical services at Turners. ‘The Bridgwater Contact Lens Centre’ will be an increasingly visible part of Turners Optometrists over the next year.
You would expect an optical practice to have a wide range of frames, and Turners are no exception, with models for all tastes and budgets. There are always at least two featured designer brands to see in the front of house showrooms and the designer studio inside.
One of Turners key suppliers is Rodenstock; a German lens manufacturer with a great reputation, a long history and a portfolio of lenses for every need. Good lens design is vital for optimum performance, and whilst a mass produced, cheap lens may have the right prescription, it will never be as good as an individually designed and made lens.
Great products help Turners deliver great service and their VisionPlan monthly direct debit scheme makes it all affordable and accessible to everyone.
A unique feature (Turners specialise in ‘unique’!) is the NikeVison@Turners sports eyewear room, featuring specialised frames and lenses for a wide variety of activities – running, cycling, golf, tennis, swimming, shooting etc. Bill Issitt, the practice manager is mine of information and knowledge about these more specialised devices. He is always happy to explain and discuss the features and benefits of different products. ‘Irrepressible enthusiasm’ defines Bill.
Turners have a cabinet full of awards for various achievements over the years. They have been pronounced ‘Independent Practice of the Year’, ‘South West Quality Award Overall Winner’, they have won numerous customer service awards, ‘Website of the Year’, ‘Online Marketing Award’, ‘Staff Development Award’ and 2013 has been an amazing year with 3 awards, culminating in ‘Optical Assistant of the Year Award’ for Beverley Issitt, the practice Ocular Hygienist and style guru!
A great clinical team, first-class frames and lenses, contact lenses, sunglasses, sports eyewear not to mention in-house fashion and style trained consultants, emergency eyecare service, a separate eye clinic for managing dry eye and other problems and a range of diagnostic facilities put this 19th century building firmly in the 21st century when it comes to providing brilliant community eyecare .
