The highly successful Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce breakfast networking event held at the McMillan Theatre on Thursday 8 October also saw the official launch of the 2016 Sedgemoor Business Awards.
Key sponsors in attendance included Pardoes Solicitors, Sedgemoor District Council and Milsted Langdon Chartered Accountants, as well as the chairman of the organising committee Matt Tudor, Director of Business Development and International Strategy at Bridgwater College.
The Awards, now in their fourth year, give all local businesses and community organisations an opportunity to showcase the excellent work they do, with two of the categories – Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the Community Engagement Award – attracting a £1000 bursary for the winners. Entry is completely free, and there is no limit to the number of categories that businesses and organisations can enter. As an additional incentive, Somerset County Cricket Club have generously agreed to give the first 50 nominations received a pair of tickets to a 50 over match during the 2016 season.
Teresa Daggar, proprietor of WPS Cleaning & Maintenance, and winner of the New Business of the Year Award 2015, said: “After taking the plunge and entering the Sedgemoor Business Awards, I found I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process, especially the dinner itself. After being shortlisted, I was amazed to discover that I had won, and immediately set about updating my LinkedIn status! I have since been approached by two national cleaning companies offering new cleaning contracts, and this award has also given me the confidence to develop my business further locally with other like-minded businesses”.
The 2016 winners will be announced at the Awards Dinner being held on Thursday 17 March at Bridgwater’s newest and most prestigious venue, the McMillan Theatre, which has very kindly agreed to offer its support as main sponsor.
